“Basic Need Training Program” for young women ages 16 to 24 years old. The students will receive support for basic life skills training and necessities such as transportation, child care, etc. to remove barriers to education and employment and help them achieve increased financial self-sufficiency.
Girls Inc.
YEAR GRANTED: 2016
GRANT AMOUNT: $11,000
Offering six “Dream It, Build It” career mentoring programs to girls throughout the Redding area. “Dream It, Build it” is a program of Soroptimist International. The programs will be offered in local schools and community centers.
Shasta Community Health Center
YEAR GRANTED: 2016
GRANT AMOUNT: $10,000
Supporting its Restorative Dental Program. This funding will enable an additional 10 low-income women to receive major dental restoration, increasing their employability along with their physical and emotional health, and well being.
One Safe Place
YEAR GRANTED: 2016
GRANT AMOUNT: $8,000
To pay utility deposits for female heads-of-household. This funding will allow 15 women to move their families into permanent housing.
