2019 – 2020 Grant Recipients

On October 28, 2019 the Women’s Fund awarded grants to two local nonprofits totaling $30,000 from funds collected from membership donations made during 2018. The focus area for this year’s grant funding was Developing Economic Opportunities which was chosen as usual by members of The Women’s Fund’s during the semi-annual May voting cycle. Developing Economic Opportunities supports women who have a vision and need help taking steps to reach that goal, creating economic opportunities for women and/or developing skills to increase financial solvency.

In addition to these grants, the winner of the Members’ Choice Bonus Award was announced. The Members’ Choice Bonus Award program allows members to directly participate and vote on an additional funding to help one of the previous year’s grantees continue their service to our community. This year’s Member’s Choice Bonus Award, a $3,000 grant voted on by the membership, was presented to Children Heritage YouthBuild Academy (CHYBA). CHYBA will use the additional funding to provide students financial assistance with training and/or tool costs required for certain job positions. Furthermore, last year’s other two grantees, Empire Recovery Center and Pennies on Purpose, each received $1,000, making The Woman’s Fund total grant of $35,000 in 2019.
