Coming up Nov. 28: An opportunity for generosity.
North State Giving Tuesday is 14 hours of online donation-gathering for organizations doing important work in the community. The Women’s Fund of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation is among the 120-plus participants.
Memberships and donations made to The Women’s Fund during the Nov. 28 event will be amplified by incentive funds. Plus there’s the chance for The Women’s Fund to gain extra cash through random drawings.
“Giving Tuesday is the perfect time to renew or to join The Women’s Fund,” Chair Erin Resner says.
Organized by Shasta Regional Community Foundation and sponsored by Redding Bank of Commerce and Pacific Power Foundation, North State Giving Tuesday is part of a worldwide effort focused on giving. The theme is: “Give where you live.”
Dollars directed to The Women’s Fund through new memberships, renewals and other donations will be boosted by an incentive formula that adds money based on how much an organization gains in donations during the day. The Knodel Family Endowment Fund is providing the $85,000 incentive pool. Local businesses are donating $14,000 for hourly prizes.
The annual day of giving is a nice fit for The Women’s Fund, which is all about giving. Since 2010, the organization has awarded more than $265,000 in grants to programs and projects creating a better future for Redding-area women and their families.
The Women’s Fund is powered by collective philanthropy — where individuals working together can make much more of an impact than they would on their own. Memberships of $200 or $1,000 are pooled and used to give grants, put on community educational forums and grow the organization’s permanent endowment that sustains grant-making.
“The Women’s Fund is practically and efficiently executing what our community desperately needs. It’s using resources wisely and powerfully … It’s changing lives,” Resner says.
Here’s how to support the good work of The Women’s Fund on North State Giving Tuesday:
— Go to northstategives.org between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Nov. 28, select The Women’s Fund and then make a donation with a credit card, debit card or e-check.
— Or donate ahead of time. Beginning Nov. 14, go to northstategives.org, click on “Schedule Your Donation,” select The Women’s Fund, and then enter payment details. The donation will process on Nov. 28.
North State Giving Tuesday reflects the charitable nature of the region. Last year more than $750,000 was donated to organizations in Shasta and Siskiyou counties.
“North State Giving Tuesday is a terrific showcase of generosity in our community. It’s a time we can all support our favorite nonprofits — those that are doing such important work in our communities,” says Amanda Hutchings, Shasta Regional Community Foundation program officer.
