Grantee Stories: Chico State Enterprises Foundation

With the help of a generous contribution from The Women’s Fund, The Chico State Enterprises Foundation was able to conduct a Redding based educational event for high school girls investigating careers in construction on March 7, 2020. The event was held to provide high school girls information on the career opportunities in the construction industry. The event was coordinated with local company and associations, a career fair, and a presentation about the construction industry.

“Thanks to the Women’s Fund, Chico State Women in Construction increased the awareness of the tremendous opportunities in the construction industry to females in high school. By continuing to educate and raise awareness of non-traditional careers, we expand the possibilities that women can find a career to support themselves and improve their local community.” Marie Patterson, CSWIC advisor.

“The grant provided to CSWIC from the Women’s Fund allowed for us not only to raise awareness of career opportunities in the construction industry but showcase many success stories that will hopefully inspire young girls to join the exciting world of construction whether that be in design, finance, operations management or trades. The young ladies we had the opportunity to meet that day have bright futures ahead of them and I hope that this event will help kick start a successful career in this industry.” Diana Gonzalez, CSWIC President.
